Basketball Recap: Freeport Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

If Chipley wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Freeport, they should've done a better job of containing Athiei Dhal. The Bulldogs walked away with a 61-51 victory over the Tigers on Friday with plenty of help from Dhal, who dropped a double-double with 24 points and 21 boards. Her evening made it five games in a row in which she has scored at least 21 points.

Alyssa Loubriel was another key player, shooting 40% from the field en route to 17 points along with six assists and six rebounds. She continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last four games she's played.

Chipley's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Sarinity Douglas, who posted nine points and three steals. Douglas is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as she's posted one of at least 57% in the last four games she's played. Jadyn Pettis also deserves some recognition as she grabbed her first steal of the season.

The win was the third in a row for Freeport, bringing their record up to 4-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.0 points over those games. As for Chipley, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-2.

Looking ahead, Freeport will face off against Crestview at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Chipley, they will take on Jay at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
