Seneca East hasn't had much luck against Mohawk recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Tigers will look to defend their home field against the Warriors at 5:00 p.m. Seneca East is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.2 runs per game this season.
Seneca East took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Saturday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Willard, sneaking past 7-5.
Savannah Gayhart spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and three unearned) runs on five hits and racked up nine Ks.
On the hitting side, Addy Dawson and Lilly Burkholder did most of the damage at the plate: Dawson went 1-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run, while Burkholder went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. That stolen base marked the first that Dawson has snagged this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordyn Enders, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Mohawk strolled into their game on Monday with a perfect record and they left with the same. Their pitcher stepped up to hand New Riegel a 5-0 shutout.
Not much got past Aubrey Gottfried, who gave up just four hits and racked up 17 Ks to keep New Riegel off the board. Gottfried has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up a single earned run any time she's pitched this season.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Blake Miller, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2025. Mallory Brickner was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Mohawk's victory bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Seneca East, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-3.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Seneca East has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.5 hits per game. However, it's not like Mohawk struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 2.3 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Seneca East might still be hurting after the 11-0 loss they got from Mohawk when the teams last played back in May of 2025. Will the Tigers have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other softball content.
