The Badin Rams will challenge the New Richmond Lions at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
New Richmond's hitters are going to have their work cut out for them on Thursday: Badin hadn't allowed a single run the last five times they've hit the field. The Rams' pitchers stepped up to hand Bishop Fenwick a 12-0 shutout on Wednesday. The Rams haven't had any issues with the Falcons recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive victory against them.
Badin let Kira Rohan and Erica Kuhnash run wild. Rohan went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one RBI, while Kuhnash went 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Mattie Canupp, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Badin always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .630. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bishop Fenwick only posted an OBP of .273.
Meanwhile, New Richmond made easy work of Goshen on Wednesday and carried off a 6-0 win. That's two games straight that the Lions have won by exactly six runs.
Not much got past Izzie Carroll, who gave up just four hits to keep Goshen off the board. Carroll has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk any time she's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, Isabelle Rae Hartigan was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, two RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. Rachel Perry also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
New Richmond has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Badin, they pushed their record up to 12-2 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home.
Thursday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Badin hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .450. However, it's not like New Richmond struggles in that department as they've averaged .376. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Badin couldn't quite get it done against New Richmond in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 as they fell 5-0. Will the Rams have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other softball content.
