On Friday, The Bigfork Vikings & Valkyries faced the Hamilton Broncs in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Bigfork took a 34-21 hit to the loss column at the hands of Hamilton. Bigfork has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
When it comes to explaining why Bigfork lost, one person who can't be blamed is Tristen Herd. Despite the final result, he rushed for 48 yards and a touchdown.
Lucas Lant was a one-man wrecking crew for Hamilton as he rushed for 230 yards and four touchdowns, and also threw for 95 yards and a touchdown. Lant is on a roll when it comes to solo tackles, as he's now made six or more in the last five games he's played. Hamilton also got help from Hunter Stewart who showed off his sure hands for 95 receiving yards.
Bigfork now has a losing record at 4-5. As for Hamilton, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-2.
Bigfork does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Hamilton will face off against Fergus/Winnett/Grass Range at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Montana (Fergus/Winnett/Grass Range is ranked 12th, while Hamilton is ranked ninth).
