The Richland Colts will be playing at home against the Maple Valley Raiders at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The pair have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses apiece.
Last Tuesday, Richland suffered a tough 63-42 defeat at the hands of the Bulldogs. While losing is never fun, Richland can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Dakota basketball rankings (they are ranked 103rd, while the Bulldogs are ranked 26th).
Richland's defeat came about despite a quality game from Nick Mjoness, who scored 21 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Casyn Syvertsen, who scored 11 points along with two steals and two blocks.
Meanwhile, Maple Valley was the victim of a rough 64-42 loss at the hands of the Pirates on Tuesday. Maple Valley has not had much luck with the Pirates recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Richland has traveled a rocky road recently having lost eight of their last ten games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-11 record this season. As for Maple Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-8.
Richland came up short against the Raiders in their previous matchup back in January of 2023, falling 55-49. Can Richland avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
