The Redding Christian Lions are taking a road trip to face off against the Fall River Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Redding Christian is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.
On Friday, Redding Christian was fully in charge, breezing past Trinity 54-7. The Lions might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matchups by 20 points or more this season.
Levi Putnam continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 174 yards and three scores while picking up 10.9 yards per carry. Wyatt Shaw was another key player, throwing for 194 yards and three touchdowns while completing 92.9% of his passes.
Redding Christian's run defense was locked in: Trinity could only muster 2.4 yards per carry. The team can thank Conner Moore for the heroic effort on defense: he. Redding Christian hasn't allowed more than eight yards per carry in three consecutive contests.
Redding Christian's defense didn't let the opposing QB, get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for six sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Kamdyn Coates and Brodie Ogden, who racked up four sacks between them.
Meanwhile, Fall River earned an 18-6 victory over Etna on Friday. That looming 18-6 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Bulldogs yet this season.
Redding Christian better keep an eye on Abraham Estes. He was instrumental in Fall River's win, rushing for 135 yards and three TDs on only 15 carries. Estes is becoming a predictor of the Bulldogs' success: when he posts at least 80 rushing yards the team is 3-1 (and 1-2 when he doesn't).
Fall River didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off four passes before the game was over. Raul Iniguez led the group effort, picking up two of those interceptions all by himself.
Fall River now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Redding Christian, their record now sits at 6-0.
Friday's game might be decided on the ground. Redding Christian has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 166.2 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Fall River struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 192 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's matchup turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Redding Christian beat Fall River 30-22 when the teams last played back in October of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Lions since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
