The Lafayette Hornets are taking a road trip to face off against the Trenton Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Lafayette sitting on 11 straight wins and Trenton on seven.
Last Tuesday, Lafayette got the win against Union County by a conclusive 11-1. Considering the Hornets have won eight matchups by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Ethan Tuten made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run and four RBI. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Hyatt Richardson was excellent, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in doubles (two). Lathan Garrard also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.
Lafayette was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Union County only posted a batting average of .143.
Meanwhile, Trenton made easy work of Fort White on Tuesday and carried off a 9-1 victory. Considering the Tigers have won 11 games by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Trenton got a big performance out of Jordan Marlo, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Ty Moses, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3.
Trenton's win was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 18-3. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for Lafayette, their record now sits at 17-2.
Thursday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Lafayette hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .323. However, it's not like Trenton struggles in that department as they've averaged .345. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Lafayette suffered a grim 6-0 defeat to Trenton when the teams last played back in March. Can the Hornets avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
