The Gainesville Leopards will be playing at home against the Krum Bobcats at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Texas (Gainesville is ranked 684th, while Krum is ranked 682nd).
Last Friday, Gainesville was the victim of a tough 38-14 loss at the hands of Van Alstyne.
Despite the loss, Gainesville got a solid performance out of Ladanian White, who rushed for 87 yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Krum beat Bridgeport 34-26 on Friday.
Krum's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ty Taber led the charge by throwing for 158 yards and three touchdowns, while also punching in a touchdown on the ground. Haidyn Jones was another key contributor, rushing for 107 yards and a touchdown on only seven carries.
Gainesville has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-4 record this season. As for Krum, their win bumped their record up to 4-5.
Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground as these two are both standouts in the run game. Gainesville has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 212.7 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Krum struggles in that department as they've been averaging 165.4 per game. It's looking like Friday's matchup might have some serious battles in the trenches.
Gainesville was able to grind out a solid victory over Krum in their previous meeting back in November of 2022, winning 41-31. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Krum's Devrin Brown, who rushed for 334 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 9.8 yards per carry. Now that he won't be playing on Friday, will it be that much easier for Gainesville to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
