Baseball Recap: Lyons' Win on Monday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Lyons had already won two in a row and they went ahead and made it three on Monday. They put the hurt on the Proviso West Panthers with a sharp 12-2 victory. Considering the Lions have won nine matchups by more than six runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Luka Luburic looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run but no hits. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March.

At the plate, Blake Ragsdale was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Lon Roberts was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.

Lyons always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .531. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Proviso West only posted an OBP of .250.

Lyons pushed their record up to 13-4 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Proviso West, they have been struggling recently as they've lost ten of their last 11 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-12 record this season.

Lyons will have a chance to go back-to-back against Proviso West: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
