It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Westview Warriors had no problem doing just that on Tuesday. They walked away with a 51-42 win over the Eagles. The win was some much needed relief for Westview as it spelled an end to their five-game losing streak.
Westview found their leader in underclassman Bre Cory, who scored 24 points along with six rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Cory has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Karis Weinberg, who scored ten points along with eight rebounds.
When it comes to explaining why Churubusco lost, one person who can't be blamed is Alyssa Eby. Despite the final result, she scored 13 points along with five rebounds and two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Kailin Foote, who scored six points along with two steals.
Westview's win bumped their record up to 5-18. As for Churubusco, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 11 of their last 12 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-18 record this season.
Westview will take on Fremont at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Fremont has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games. Churubusco does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
