Kennedy has won three straight games at home, while Intrinsic Charter School Downtown Campus has won three straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Thursday. The Kennedy Crusaders will welcome the Intrinsic Charter School Downtown Campus Ravens at 6:30 p.m. Kennedy is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.1 points per game this season.
Last Tuesday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Kennedy beat Muchin College Prep 50-44. The Crusaders haven't had any issues with the Mountain Lions recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.
Kennedy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Joseph Dahl, who dropped a double-double with 20 points and 11 boards. That makes it three consecutive games in which Dahl has scored at least a third of Kennedy's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jovani Naverette, who went 6-for-8 on his way to 13 points and six rebounds.
Kennedy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Intrinsic Charter School Downtown Campus came up short against UIC College Prep on Monday and fell 55-43.
Kennedy will have to keep a close watch on Cedrick Carter and Rejivieon Hudson, a pair of players who had a big impact on Intrinsic Charter School Downtown Campus' prior game. Carter almost dropped a double-double with 16 points and nine boards, while Hudson posted 15 points and four steals. Carter has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more blocks the last 48 times he's played. Another player making a difference was Antione Lavender, who earned four points and five rebounds.
Intrinsic Charter School Downtown Campus' defeat dropped their record down to 20-7. As for Kennedy, their win bumped their record up to 11-17.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Kennedy has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 31.9 boards per game. However, it's not like Intrinsic Charter School Downtown Campus struggles in that department as they've been averaging 34.6 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Everything came up roses for Kennedy against Intrinsic Charter School Downtown Campus in their previous matchup back in February of 2022, as the team secured an 83-43 victory. In that game, Kennedy amassed a halftime lead of 52-20, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Thursday.
