Softball Recap: Athens Sets Scoring Season-High Against Groves

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Athens). Everything went their way against the Groves Falcons on Thursday as they made off with a 19-8 victory. The result was nothing new for the Red Hawks, who have now won six matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Athens got a massive performance out of Leah Dahlerup, who fired off four runs, three doubles, and three RBI while going 4-for-4. Dahlerup has been hot, having also posted at least one stolen base the last six times she's played. Ella Odgers was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, two stolen bases, and three RBI.

Athens was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .645. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Athens has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-9 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.4 runs over those games. As for Groves, their loss was their sixth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 5-7.
