The Pendleton County Wildcat pushed their score all the way to 60 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 72-60 hit to the loss column at the hands of Tucker County. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Pendleton County in their matchups with the Mountain Lions: they've now lost seven in a row.
Josiah Kimble and Chase Owens certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Kimble scored 18 points along with six assists, while Owens scored 21 points. Kimble is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 18 or more in the last four games he's played. Cashton Kisamore was another key contributor, scoring six points along with three blocks and two steals.
Tucker County's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ashton Lycliter, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 14 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Lycliter has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Owen Knotts, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 15 rebounds.
Pendleton County's defeat dropped their record down to 5-5. As for Tucker County, the win was the 11th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pendleton County won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against the Pirates at 7:30 p.m. on January 31st. Paw Paw will be looking to keep their four-game home win streak alive. As for Tucker County, they will head out on the road to face off against the Rams at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Southern focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Tuesday.
