Ava Bihl spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and one unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Aubrey Ferguson, who went 3-for-5 with one home run, eight RBI, and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Aubry Shavers, who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Ironton kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. They are a perfect 10-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, after soaring to ten runs the game before, Loris was a bit more limited in their contest on Monday. They fell just short of Pee Dee Academy by a score of 3-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Lions have suffered since May 15, 2024.
Loris saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Peyton Cannon, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
Loris' defeat dropped their record down to 9-8-1. As for Ironton, their win bumped their record up to 11-3.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Tuesday. Ironton hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.7 home runs per game. However, it's not like Loris struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.6 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
