The Byers Lions will be playing at home against the Myrtle Hawks at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Byers' recent rough patch got a bit rougher two weeks ago after their third straight loss. They took a serious blow against Falkner, falling 63-14.
Meanwhile, Myrtle ended up a good deal behind Falkner on Friday and lost 35-20.
Although Myrtle took the loss, they still got scores from Zane Hill, Wes Stanton, and Joe Kizer.
Byers' loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 1-6. The slump could be explained by some tough opposition over that stretch, namely Falkner, Potts Camp, and Okolona. As for Myrtle, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-7.
Byers was taken down by Myrtle 46-14 in their previous meeting back in October of 2019. Thankfully for Byers, Isaac Nugent (who rushed for 125 yards and three touchdowns on only eight carries) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
