The Brown County Eagles will square off against the Trinity Lutheran Cougars at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Brown County hasn't scored more than two runs for three games straight, a trend the squad is eager to reverse.
On Wednesday, Brown County came up short against Northview and fell 6-1.
Brown County saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Aubree Denton, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one run. That triple was Denton's first of the season.
Meanwhile, Trinity Lutheran got the win against Christian Academy on Tuesday by a conclusive 11-1. The Cougars haven't had any issues with the Warriors recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.
Grace Lance was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits over five innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Marissa Baker, who went 1-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was DeAnna Rothert, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double.
Trinity Lutheran was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .389. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Christian Academy only posted a batting average of .000.
Trinity Lutheran's victory bumped their record up to 5-12. As for Brown County, their loss dropped their record down to 5-11.
Brown County skirted past Trinity Lutheran 3-1 in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Cougars have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
