After flying high against the Wesson Cobras last Friday, the Franklin County Bulldogs came back down to earth. Franklin County fell just short of the Eagles by a score of 41-38. Franklin County was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Eagles apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January.
Lavell Thompson was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 19 points and 13 rebounds for South Pike. Thompson is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down nine or more in the last four games he's played.
Franklin County's loss dropped their record down to 12-10. As for South Pike, their victory bumped their record up to 10-14.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Franklin County will challenge the Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Jefferson County's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last 11 contests. As for South Pike, they will head out on the road to challenge the Blue Waves at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Port Gibson will be looking to keep their three-game home win streak alive.
