Baseball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Crete-Monee

Crete-Monee extended their winning streak to three on Thursday, bumping their season record up to 15-10 in the process. They blew past the Thornwood Thunderbirds 14-4. The Warriors might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 games by seven runs or more this season.

Dylan Dee tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits over six innings pitched. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Bren Milburn, who went 3-for-5 with six stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. He has been hot recently, having posted two or more stolen bases the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Timothy Gaddis, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with three stolen bases, one run, and one double.

Crete-Monee kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Thornwood only managed five hits.

As for Thornwood, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-10 record this season. They just can't catch a break and have now endured three defeats in a row.

On Thornwood's side, Kordae Montgomery was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Daniel Diaz, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Looking ahead, Crete-Monee will venture away from home to face off against Argo at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Thornwood, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Bloom at 4:30 p.m. on the 19th.
