Volleyball Recap: Quincy's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Saturday

After a string of five wins, Quincy's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the East Nicolaus Spartans. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Spartans this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-2 on Monday.

Marleigh Merino paced Quincy's offense, picking up seven kills. Merino got some help from Skylar McCarthy and her nine assists. Finally, Merino was also a dominant defender, finishing with a team-high three blocks.

Quincy's loss dropped their record down to 10-4. As for East Nicolaus, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 7-1.

Coming up, Quincy will square off against Modoc at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for East Nicolaus, they will face off against River Valley at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
