The Illiana Christian Vikings waltzed into their game on Tuesday with five straight wins but they left with six. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 44-41 win over Kouts. For Illiana Christian, this counts as revenge for the 73-13 loss the Mustangs & Fillies walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January of 2023.
Illiana Christian got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Avery Olthof out in front who scored six points along with ten rebounds and two steals. Ella Olthof was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with two steals.
Illiana Christian is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-8 record this season. As for Kouts, their defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 6-17.
Illiana Christian will look to defend their home court on Thursday against the Lions at 7:00 p.m. That game will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Ellen Penner and Abbie Ritzema. Kouts' road trip will continue as they head out to face the Wolves at 7:00 p.m. on January 25th.
