The Mohawk Warriors will take on the Hopewell-Loudon Chieftains in a tournament on Wednesday. Mohawk will be looking to extend their current eight-game winning streak.
On Thursday, Mohawk got the win against Upper Sandusky by a conclusive 3-0.
Not only was the match a shutout, it was a big one: Mohawk took every set by at least ten points. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-12, 25-15, 25-9.

Mohawk had a senior duo take command as Emerson Gurney had 11 digs and four aces and Cara Peterson had four digs and three aces. Gurney is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had ten or more in each of the last 17 games she's played. Jayla Huffman also deserves some recognition as she served her first aces of the season.
Mohawk was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 12 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least six aces every time they've taken the court this season.
Meanwhile, Hopewell-Loudon came up short against New Riegel on Thursday and fell 3-1.
While Hopewell-Loudon ultimately came up short, they didn't go down without a fight: they scored at least 19 points in every set they played. The final score came out to 25-19, 19-25, 25-23, 25-21.
Mohawk will have to contain Maddie Holcomb as she made an impact in Hopewell-Loudon's last game. She had 30 digs.
Mohawk's win bumped their record up to 18-4. As for Hopewell-Loudon, they dropped their record down to 7-14 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Wednesday's matchup: Mohawk has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 9.5 aces per game. However, it's not like Hopewell-Loudon struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 6.5 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Mohawk was able to grind out a solid victory over Hopewell-Loudon in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, winning 3-1. Do the Warriors have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Chieftains turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
