The Clarkson/Leigh Patriots will head out on the road to face off against the David City Scouts at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Clarkson/Leigh focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Friday.
Clarkson/Leigh's 20-7 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. They took a 53-46 hit to the loss column at the hands of Bancroft-Rosalie. While losing is never fun, Clarkson/Leigh can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 201st, while Bancroft-Rosalie is ranked 26th).
Despite the loss, Clarkson/Leigh got a solid performance out of Chloe Hanel, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds. The match was Hanel's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Baylee Settje, who scored eight points along with nine rebounds.
Meanwhile, David City unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Saturday. They lost to Elmwood-Murdock at home by a decisive 52-36 margin.
Clarkson/Leigh's defeat ended a eight-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 1-3. As for David City, their loss ended a ten-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 3-1.
Clarkson/Leigh strolled past David City when the teams last played back in December of 2022 by a score of 52-37. The rematch might be a little tougher for Clarkson/Leigh since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
