Softball Recap: Union Extends Winning Streak to Three

Union waltzed into their contest on Monday with two straight wins... but they left with three. Everything went their way against the Scott Central Rebels as they made off with a 16-1 win. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 16-4 back in February.

Alanee Wheeler made a big impact no matter where she played. She tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-2.

In other batting news, Union let Destiny Moulds and Tiara Campbell run wild. Moulds scored two runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-3, while Campbell scored a run while going 2-for-2. What's more, Campbell posted two doubles, the most she's had since back in March. Another player making a difference was LaCee Bishop, who scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances.

Union's victory bumped their record up to 17-11. As for Scott Central, their defeat was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 7-13.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Union will welcome Lake at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Yellowjackets' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Hornets have averaged an impressive 9 runs per game this season. As for Scott Central, they will face off against Philadelphia at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
