The Clarke Central Gladiators will be playing in front of their home fans against the Winder-Barrow Bulldoggs at 8:30 p.m. on Friday. Clarke Central knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past nine games -- so hopefully Winder-Barrow likes a good challenge.
Clarke Central pushed their score all the way to 59 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 80-59 walloping at the hands of Arabia Mountain. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their last game on Friday (57), Clarke Central still had to take the loss.
Meanwhile, Winder-Barrow came tearing into Tuesday's match with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 21.2 points) and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against Heritage by a score of 59-48. Given Winder-Barrow's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 40th, while Heritage is ranked 357th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Clarke Central's loss dropped their record down to 7-10. As for Winder-Barrow, they are on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 13 games, which provided a nice bump to their 17-3 record this season.
