Softball Recap: Homestead Wins Going Away Against Fort Wayne Northrop

While Homestead didn't have the best season last year (they finished 11-14), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They blew past the Fort Wayne Northrop Bruins 18-6 on Saturday. Considering the Spartans have won five matches by more than six runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Homestead let Grace Jordan and Olivia Schultheis run wild. Jordan went 4-for-5 with one home run, six RBI, and four runs, while Schultheis went 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Those five RBI gave Schultheis a new career-high. Braeli Borchers also deserves some recognition as she hit her first doubles of the season.

Homestead always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .524. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Fort Wayne Northrop only posted an OBP of .360.

Homestead's record now sits at 7-3. As for Fort Wayne Northrop, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 4-5 record.

Coming up, Homestead is taking a road trip to square off against Columbia City at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Fort Wayne Northrop, they will host Fort Wayne Wayne at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
