The Pocono Mountain West Panthers won against the East Stroudsburg North Timberwolves last Monday with 55 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Friday. Pocono Mountain West snuck past East Stroudsburg North with a 55-49 win. Given Pocono Mountain West's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 23rd, while East Stroudsburg North is ranked 200th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Several Timberwolves players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Nate Wilder, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds and five assists. Wilder is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last five games he's played. Another player making a difference was Bryceson Dobie, who scored 19 points along with three steals.
Pocono Mountain West has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-3 record this season. As for East Stroudsburg North, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-7.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pocono Mountain West will take on Pleasant Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Pleasant Valley knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past three matchups -- so hopefully Pocono Mountain West likes a good challenge. As for East Stroudsburg North, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Eastside at 2:30 p.m. on January 27th. Eastside will be looking to keep their seven-game home win streak alive.
