The Thornton Academy Trojans are taking a road trip to challenge the Westbrook Blue Blazes at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Thornton Academy has four straight wins, Westbrook has five straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Thornton Academy's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They put the hurt on Massabesic with a sharp 11-0 victory. Considering the Trojans have won four games by more than seven runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Beck Edgerly tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Brennan Tabor was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Dominic Hussey also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
Thornton Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .538. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Massabesic only posted an OBP of .158.
Meanwhile, Westbrook fell victim to Biddeford and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They lost 17-0 to the Tigers.
Westbrook saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Landon Hall, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.
Thornton Academy's record is now 7-0-1. As for Westbrook, their loss dropped their record down to 1-6.
Westbrook's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Thornton Academy hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .368. It's a different story for Westbrook, though, as they've only averaged .179. Will they be able to contain Thornton Academy's hitters?
Everything went Thornton Academy's way against Westbrook in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, as Thornton Academy made off with a 17-1 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Trojans since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
