The River Ridge Royal Knights will be playing in front of their home fans against the Pasco Pirates at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
River Ridge's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their third straight loss. They were dealt a 77-47 loss at the hands of Mitchell. River Ridge was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 51-28.
Despite their defeat, River Ridge saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. THOMAS DELORETO, who scored ten points along with eight rebounds and two steals, was perhaps the best of all. The team also got some help courtesy of TAURUS (TJ) BEAL, who scored 11 points.
River Ridge struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Pasco suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Friday. They were outmatched by Sunlake at home and fell 73-31. While losing is never fun, Pasco can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 626th, while Sunlake is ranked 268th).
River Ridge has not been sharp recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-11 record this season. As for Pasco, their loss dropped their record down to 3-9.
Everything came up roses for River Ridge against Pasco when the teams last played back in February of 2023 as the squad secured a 65-33 victory. Will River Ridge repeat their success, or does Pasco have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
