Marlin is 9-1 against the Longhorns since February of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Marlin Bulldogs will head out on the road to take on the Axtell Longhorns at 6:30 p.m. Marlin will be looking to extend their current 11-game winning streak.
Even though Dawson scored an imposing 63 points on Friday, Marlin still came out on top. Marlin enjoyed a cozy 77-63 win over the Bulldogs.
Jaidan Womack and Aarik Smith-shelley were among the main playmakers for Marlin as the former scored 16 points along with six rebounds and five steals and the latter scored 15 points along with five blocks. Another player making a difference was Jacorian Johnson, who scored 12 points along with six assists.
Meanwhile, Axtell slipped by the Panthers 48-47 on Tuesday.
Marlin's victory was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 14-4. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.9 points per game. As for Axtell, they now have a winning record of 14-13.
Everything went Marlin's way against the Longhorns in their previous meeting back in January as the Bulldogs made off with a 64-42 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Marlin since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
