Even though the High Point Eagles scored an imposing 57 points on Thursday, the Parkdale Panthers still came out on top. Parkdale walked away with a 64-57 win over the Eagles. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Parkdale also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2023.
Mark Freeland was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 26 points and 13 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Jairus Giray, who scored 12 points.
High Point's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ibrahim Turay, who scored 22 points along with six rebounds and two steals. Turay is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last five games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Daniel Eze, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 15 rebounds.
Parkdale's win bumped their record up to 5-11. As for High Point, they dropped their record down to 0-16 with that loss, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Parkdale will take on the Cavaliers at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Crossland is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. As for High Point, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Patriots at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Friendly is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak.
