The American Eagles will take on the Washington Huskies at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. American has given up an average of 13.2 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
The home team had won the previous five meetings between American and James Logan, and James Logan kept the tradition alive. The Eagles might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 18-1 to the Colts, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior.
American saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Amber Hillman, who went 1-for-2 with one run.
Meanwhile, Washington had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. Everything went their way against the Warriors as they made off with a 13-2 victory. Considering the Huskies have won three matchups by more than nine runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Ynez Lopez and Aubree Rambaran made a splash while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Lopez tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Rambaran pitched four innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in six consecutive appearances. At bat, Lopez went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double, while Rambaran went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one RBI. That's the most RBI Lopez has posted since back in May of 2025.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Molly Racklin, who went 2-for-3 with two triples, two runs, and two RBI. Those triples were her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Elena Fotopoulos, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI.
Washington was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .560. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
American has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-9 record this season. As for Washington, they now have a winning record of 4-3.
American got the 'W' in their previous meeting back in May of 2025 against Washington by a conclusive 12-5 score. Do the Eagles have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Huskies turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
