Schulenburg is 8-0 against Louise since January of 2016, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Schulenburg Shorthorns will be home for the holidays to greet the Louise Hornets at 6:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Last Friday, Schulenburg came up short against Ganado and fell 44-37. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Schulenburg in their matchups with Ganado: they've now lost three in a row.
Despite the defeat, Schulenburg saw an underclassman step up: Alana Herzik scored five points along with 15 rebounds and three steals. Those 15 rebounds set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Arianna Vincent, who scored six points along with ten rebounds.
Even though they lost, Schulenburg were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 25 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Louise was beaten by Flatonia 61-30 on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, Louise can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1178th, while Flatonia is ranked 295th).
Schulenburg has been struggling recently, as they've lost ten of their last 11 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-15 record this season. As for Louise, their defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 6-9.
Everything came up roses for Schulenburg against Louise when the teams last played back in January as the team secured a 57-24 victory. Does Schulenburg have another victory up their sleeve, or will Louise turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
