The Conway Wampus Cats will face off against the Fayetteville Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Conway has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 531 points over their last 11 games.
With a playoff game on the line, Conway rose to the challenge on Friday. They took down Bentonville West 63-46. Yes, you read that score correctly, and yes, they were playing football.
Meanwhile, Fayetteville put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They managed a 30-24 victory over Southside.
Fayetteville's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Christian Setzer, who rushed for 140 yards and a touchdown. Setzer hasn't dropped below 100 rushing yards for four straight games. Another player making a difference was Drake Lindsey, who threw for 310 yards and two touchdowns while completing 77.1% of his passes.
Special teams played a big role in the game for Fayetteville, adding 12 points to the final score. All those points came courtesy of Nathan Kachel: he added nine points with three field goals, and another three kicking extra points.
Their wins bumped Conway to 10-1 and Fayetteville to 11-0.
Everything came up roses for Conway against Fayetteville when the teams last played back in November of 2022 as the team secured a 37-0 victory. Does Conway have another victory up their sleeve, or will Fayetteville turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
