The Brooks County Trojans were the 71-52 winner over the Bacon County Raiders when they last played one another back in February of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Brooks County fell 52-40 to the Raiders on Friday. Brooks County has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Brooks County lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Kanilyn Jones, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds and four steals. Jones has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last seven times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Timothy Goss, who scored five points along with two steals.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Bacon County to victory, but perhaps none more so than Xavier Harris, who scored 14 points along with three steals. Another player making a difference was Lemarcus Wright, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 11 rebounds.
Brooks County has not been sharp recently as the team's lost eight of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-14 record this season. As for Bacon County, their victory bumped their record up to 6-9.
Brooks County will head out on the road to take on the Hornets at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Cook focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Saturday. As for Bacon County, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against the Indians at 5:30 p.m. on January 27th. Irwin County is no doubt hoping to put an end to a seven-game streak of away losses.
