Holmes is 8-2 against Manteo since April of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Holmes Aces will square off against the Manteo Redskins at 5:00 p.m. Holmes is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 12 runs per game this season.
Holmes is headed into the matchup having just suffered their biggest defeat since April 23, 2024 on Friday. They lost 20-9 to Bear Grass Charter. The Aces' loss signaled the end of their undefeated season.
Ainsley Parrish made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. Jordan Ward was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, Manteo got themselves on the board against Northeastern on Friday, but Northeastern never followed suit. They were the clear victor by a 16-0 margin over the Eagles. The Redskins haven't had any issues with the Eagles recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.
Makenna Gray made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Gray was also big at the plate, scoring a run while getting on base in both of her plate appearances.
In other batting news, Bridgett Berry was incredible, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Brooklyn Creef, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.
Having lost for the first time this season, Holmes fell to 3-1. As for Manteo, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
Tuesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Holmes hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .369. However, it's not like Manteo struggles in that department as they've averaged .455. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Holmes took their victory against Manteo when the teams last played back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 11-0. Will Holmes repeat their success, or does Manteo have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
