The Pahrump Valley Trojans put another one in the bag on Saturday to keep their perfect season alive. They enjoyed a cozy 48-31 win over Virgin Valley. Given Pahrump Valley's advantage in MaxPreps' Nevada basketball rankings (they are ranked third, while Virgin Valley is ranked 43rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Pahrump Valley was led to victory by Kailani Martinez and Avery Moore. Martinez scored 15 points along with 6 rebounds and 5 steals, while Moore dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds. Martinez is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Paris Coleman, who scored 9 points along with 5 rebounds.
Pahrump Valley pushed their record up to 7-0 with that victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Virgin Valley, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-5.
Pahrump Valley will be home for the holidays to greet Virgin Valley at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Virgin Valley, they will head out on the road to face off against Pahrump Valley at 6:30 p.m. Hopefully Pahrump Valley focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Saturday.
