McKay hasn't had much luck against Corvallis recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Royal Scots will look to defend their home field against the Spartans at 4:30 p.m. McKay has given up an average of 15.3 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
McKay is headed into Monday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 23rd straight game dating back to last season on Friday. They lost 20-3 to Central.
Jeremy Toy was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacob Webster, who got on base in two of his three plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.
Meanwhile, Corvallis waltzed into their contest on Friday with nine straight wins... but they left with ten. They were the clear victors by a 13-4 margin over the Raiders. Considering the Spartans have won nine games by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Andrew Street spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on four hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Corvallis got a massive performance out of Roy Bannister, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, two RBI, and one double. That's the most hits Bannister has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Axel Prechel, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.
Corvallis always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .525. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive matchups.
Corvallis' win was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-4. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for McKay, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-15.
McKay suffered a grim 20-0 defeat to Corvallis in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Royal Scots avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
