The Middletown Middie Bears's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They took a hard 75-61 fall against Troy. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Troy found their leader in underclassman Stetson Merritt, who scored 28 points. The matchup was Merritt's sixth in a row with at least ten points. Legend Merritt was another key contributor, scoring 16 points.
Middletown bumped their record down to 2-9 with that loss, which was their seventh straight on the road. As for Troy, their victory ended a six-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-6.
Middletown will head out on the road to face off against Minisink Valley at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Troy won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Shenendehowa at 5:00 p.m. on December 30th. Shenendehowa presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Troy in New York (Shenendehowa is ranked 241st, while Troy is ranked 611th).
