Marcus Allen and Jonathan King provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Interlachen. The longest such play in 4A District 4 this season, the connection resulted in 80 yards.
Umatilla was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from fifth to third in the league. Earlier in the week, the Bulldogs defeated Montverde Academy 62-0.
King was the best wideout in the league this week as Weeki Wachee topped the Rams. King racked up four receptions for 181 yards. Allen helped Weeki Wachee's passing attack out by catching one ball for 21 yards.
Hunter Green was the most productive running back in 4A District 4 this week. He ran for 101 yards on three carries as Umatilla beat Interlachen. Brett Bush also contributed to the rushing game with 82 yards on the ground.
Bobby LaRouca put up the best numbers through the air as Mount Dora defeated Bradford. He finished with 16 completions for 241 yards and three touchdowns. LaRouca's favorite target this week was Von Davis, who caught two passes for 82 yards.
The Hurricanes' LaRouca and Davis have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. LaRouca has thrown for 1590 yards this season, while Davis, a 5-foot-10 receiver, has 21 catches for 495 yards. Alex Gonzales from Keystone Heights leads the league in rushing with 913 yards.
Gonzales of the the Indians is only 87 yards short of surpassing 1,000 rushing yards for the season.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Rodney Torrance's team takes on South Sumter. The Bulldogs are in third place, while the Raiders are in first place.
South Sumter extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Keystone Heights, 42-0. The victory was the ninth in a row for the team.
