In what's become a running theme this season, the Athens Christian Preparatory Academy Storm gave their fans yet another huge victory on Tuesday. They were the clear victor by a 58-37 margin over St. Mary. The win was just what Athens Christian Preparatory Academy needed coming off of a 65-38 defeat in their prior contest.
Landry Gammon continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 27 points along with nine rebounds and six assists. That makes it three consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Athens Christian Preparatory Academy's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Mitchell Koerth, who scored 14 points.
When it comes to explaining why St. Mary's lost, one person who can't be blamed is Taylor Darnell. Despite the final result, he scored 20 points along with six rebounds and two steals. Darnell has been hot recently, having posted two or more blocks the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Brennan Billodeux, who scored 11 points.
St. Mary's struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Athens Christian Preparatory Academy racked up 17 assists.
Athens Christian Preparatory Academy's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-6. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.6 points per game. As for St. Mary's, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-4.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Athens Christian Preparatory Academy will take on St. Boniface Catholic Classical at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for St. Mary's, they will be playing at home against Christian Heritage at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
