Softball Recap: Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory Takes a Loss

After flying high against Urban last Saturday, Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory came back down to earth. The Fightin' Irish lost 25-0 to the Valley Christian Warriors on Wednesday. The contest marked the first time this year in which the Fightin' Irish were not able to get on the board.

Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Adriana Giomi, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases. Giomi has been hot recently, having posted two or more stolen bases the last three times she's played.

Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory's defeat dropped their record down to 6-5. As for Valley Christian, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season.

Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory will face off against St. Ignatius College Preparatory at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. The Wildcats' pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so the Fightin' Irish's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Valley Christian, they will square off against Woodside at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Warriors 2.4, the Wildcats 3.1) so any runs scored will be well earned.
