The Abbeville Christian Academy Generals pushed their score all the way to 61 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 73-61 to Springwood. Despite running the score up even higher than they did on Tuesday (60), Abbeville Christian Academy still had to take the loss.
Abbeville Christian Academy lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Javarse Turner, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 rebounds. Turner is absolutely dominating the rebound category: he's posted at least eight every time he's taken the court this season. Jayden Buckhannon was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds.
Even though they lost, Abbeville Christian Academy were working as a unit and finished the game with ten assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Springwood only racked up 18 assists.
Springwood's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Micah Thomas, who scored 23 points along with seven rebounds. That makes it eight consecutive games in which Thomas has scored at least 25% of Springwood's points. Another player making a difference was Daniel Westbrook, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 12 rebounds.
Abbeville Christian Academy's loss dropped their record down to 11-7. As for Springwood, their victory bumped their record up to 12-4.
Abbeville Christian Academy will be playing in front of their home fans against Wiregrass at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Wiregrass is looking to tack on another W to their four-game streak on the road. Springwood and Valiant Cross Academy will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 9th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Valiant Cross Academy has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 533 points over their last eight matchups.
