Timberline is 8-2 against Central Kitsap since May of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Blazers will venture away from home to take on the Cougars at 4:00 p.m. Timberline is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 13.6 runs per game this season.
While Timberline's victory against North Thurston wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Blazers had just enough and edged out the Rams 6-5. The win continues a trend for the Blazers in their matchups with the Rams: they've now won six in a row.
Madelyn Gilmore was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off eight hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-2.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kayleese Dorfner, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one home run and two runs.
Timberline hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as North Thurston struck out ten times.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Central Kitsap). They blew past Bremerton 23-1 on Wednesday. The victory was familiar territory for the Cougars, who have now won six matchups in a row.
Central Kitsap let Ava Day and Scarlett Mabe run wild. Day scored five runs and stole a base while going 5-for-5, while Mabe scored four runs and stole a base while going 2-for-5. What's more, Day posted two doubles, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Coral Howell, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.
Central Kitsap pushed their record up to 10-1 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.7 runs over those games. As for Timberline, their record now sits at 8-2.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Timberline has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.1 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Central Kitsap struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.2 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Timberline couldn't quite finish off Central Kitsap in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 and fell 7-5. Can the Blazers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
