The South Plaquemines Hurricanes were the 47-44 winner over the Belle Chasse Cardinals when they last played one another back in November of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. South Plaquemines fell 59-51 to Belle Chasse on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, South Plaquemines can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 262nd, while Belle Chasse is ranked 124th).
Belle Chasse had a senior duo take command as Jaylen Hughes Ingram scored 18 points along with eight rebounds and Kyle Reeves scored 13 points along with six rebounds and five steals. The matchup was Hughes Ingram's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Bryce Louviere, who scored ten points.
South Plaquemines has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost six of their last seven matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-14 record this season. As for Belle Chasse, the victory was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 14-7.
South Plaquemines has the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Phoenix at 6:15 p.m. on January 12th. Phoenix is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak. As for Belle Chasse, they will head out on the road to face off against Hammond at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
