A feisty cat fight will be fought as the Cougars face off against the Lions at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Evergreen is coming into the match hot, having won their last four games.
Evergreen is headed into the game after thoroughly thrashing Conifer: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Evergreen blew Conifer out of the water with a 60-19 final score. The Cougars pushed the score to 50-15 by the end of the third, a deficit the Lobos had no chance of recovering from.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Evergreen to victory, but perhaps none more so than Elle Buenning, who en route to 18 points in addition to seven rebounds and six steals. The contest was Buenning's fourth in a row with at least 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Addie McEvers, who dropped a double-double with 12 points and 11 boards.
Evergreen smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 21 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've posted since the start of last season.
Meanwhile, Lutheran took a blow against Air Academy on Wednesday, falling 64-36. While losing is never fun, the Lions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 59th, while the Kadets are ranked eighth).
Evergreen will need to focus on slowing down Berkley Schneider, one of several Lutheran players who made an impact when they last played. She to rack up 13 points and six rebounds. Schneider is also on a roll when it comes to blocks, as she's now posted two or more in each of the last five games she's played. Another player making a difference was Mikaela-Zoe Colon, who on her way to 11 points and six boards.
Evergreen pushed their record up to 11-12 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.7 points over those games. As for Lutheran, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-11.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Evergreen has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 28.6 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Lutheran struggles in that department as they've been averaging 27.1 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other basketball content.
