The Winslow Bulldogs will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against the Monument Valley Mustangs at 6:00 p.m. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Winslow has struggled recently with three losses in a row, while Monument Valley will arrive with three straight wins.
Last Friday, Winslow came up short against Blue Ridge and fell 52-39. While losing is never fun, Winslow can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 125th, while Blue Ridge is ranked 23rd).
Jauslyn Nells put forth a good effort for the losing side as she scored 16 points along with six rebounds and four steals. That's the first time this season that she scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Taylin Puhuhefvaya, who scored six points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, Monument Valley can now show off five landslide victories after their most recent game on Monday. They blew past Alchesay 58-31 at home. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory Monument Valley has posted since November 16, 2023.
It was another big night for Keiryn Mann, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 rebounds. That's the first time this season that she scored 15 or more points. Corey Sandoval was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with three steals and two blocks.
Winslow's defeat dropped their record down to 4-11. As for Monument Valley, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 7-7 record this season.
