The Windsor Charter Academy Firebirds's five-game losing streak came to an end on Wednesday. They escaped with a win against Brush by the margin of a single free throw, 43-42. The win was just what Windsor Charter Academy needed coming off of a 69-20 loss in their prior matchup.
Windsor Charter Academy's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kylie Smith, who scored seven points along with six rebounds and two steals. Another player making a difference was Morgan Kimmi, who scored seven points along with six steals and five assists.
Several Beetdiggers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Michelle Headley, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 18 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Headley has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jocelynn Middlemist, who scored 11 points along with four steals.
Even though they lost, Brush smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Windsor Charter Academy's victory ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-6. As for Brush, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-6.
Windsor Charter Academy the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Loveland Classical at 6:00 p.m. on January 12th. Loveland Classical will be coming into the contest with an undefeated record on the line. Brush's road trip will continue as they head out to face Weld Central at 3:30 p.m. on January 13th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Colorado (Weld Central is ranked 220th, while Brush is ranked 207th).
