While losing is never fun, Falls Church can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 94th, while the Hawks are ranked 35th).
When it comes to explaining why Falls Church lost, one person who can't be blamed is Simone Pendleton. Despite the final result, she scored 21 points along with three steals. That was a full 42.9% of Falls Church's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Ainsley Phillips was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with seven rebounds and four steals.
Falls Church's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-7. As for Hayfield, their victory bumped their record up to 16-3.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Falls Church will take on the Majors at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. As for Hayfield, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Eagles at 5:45 p.m. on Friday. Edison is coming into the match hot, having won their last ten games.
