Baseball Recap: Aledo Extends Winning Streak to Four

Aledo got themselves on the board against Azle on Friday, but Azle never followed suit. They were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over the Hornets. Considering the Bearcats have won nine games by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Devin Miller looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Blake Burdine was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and two doubles. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Connor Whitmire also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Aledo was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Azle only posted a batting average of .111.

The victory was the fourth in a row for Aledo, bringing their record up to 21-6. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Azle, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 15-14.

Aledo does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Azle, they will take on Brewer at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Bears' pitching crew has only allowed three runs per game this season, so the Hornets' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
