St. Bernard and South Fork are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2022, but likely not for long. The Crusaders will welcome the Cubs at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday. St. Bernard's is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.
On Tuesday, St. Bernard's came up short against Ferndale and fell 8-4. That's two games in a row now that the Crusaders have lost by exactly four runs.
St. Bernard's saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Makinsey Lemley, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI and one double.
Meanwhile, South Fork got themselves on the board against Hoopa Valley on Tuesday, but Hoopa Valley never followed suit. They blew past the Warriors 7-0. Considering the Cubs have won four contests by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Not much got past Mackenzie Coleman, who gave up just five hits to keep Hoopa Valley off the board. Coleman has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, South Fork got a big performance out of Hailey Shepherd, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Leyla Curria was another key player, going 3-for-5 with two RBI and one run.
South Fork kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in April of 2025.
The win snapped South Fork's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 5-7 record. As for St. Bernard's, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-7.
Tuesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. St. Bernard's hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .390. However, it's not like South Fork struggles in that department as they've averaged .372. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
St. Bernard's might still be hurting after the 11-4 loss they got from South Fork in their previous matchup back in May of 2025. Will the Crusaders have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more softball content.
